Dahl class (Y3/4)

We started this term’s topic; ‘Journeys into the Past’ with a fantastic trip to Kelham Island. The children were all fantastically behaved and they wowed all the staff with their knowledge and learnt even more fascinating facts about World War Two. The children took part in different workshops and got to experience what it was like in an Anderson Shelter, saw bombs from WW2 and played detectives by looking through belongings left behind by evacuees to see if they could work out who the suitcase belonged to.

When we returned to school the children wrote letters to the museum to thank them for a great trip and tell them what they had particularly enjoyed. We will be using role play to help us imagine what it was like to be a child in the 1940s and will be writing more letters and diary entries.

The children have produced some absolutely fantastic homework over the holidays based on WW2 and they are all really enthusiastic about sharing what they have found out and are eager to find out more. I am sure it will be another great half term.
